Chitosan

Chitosan is a deacetylated chitin chemical compound found widely throughout the natural world. YSK manufactures chitosan from chitin.

In the late 1970s, we embarked on research to determine the possibility of finding an effective use for crab shells that are a by-product of the production of crab extract. Our first fruits of this research were our successes in refining chitin and chitosan. Chitosan has recently been the focus of wide-ranging research. The substance is drawing attention for its unique characteristics and is being employed in a diverse array of fields.

Chitosan's distinctive characteristics include blocking the body's absorption of fat -- a quality that is prompting the use of the substance for health maintenance and medical treatments of various kinds. Among its other unique properties, chitosan has been reported to relax high blood pressure, improve various internal disorders, reduce uric acid levels, and reduce blood sugar levels.
